    CAS:
Colloidal bismuth pectin (CBPM) is an inorganic acid that is used to treat drug reactions. It has a liquid chromatographic method, which separates the colloidal particles from the mixture of other substances. CBPM is administered by intravenous injection in dosages of 10-30 mg/kg every four hours for up to five days. Colloidal bismuth pectin can be detected in the blood at a concentration of 1-2 mg/L at 30 minutes after administration and at 2-4 mg/L at one hour after administration. The viscosity and dry weight are increased when CBPM is added to the solution. Colloidal bismuth pectin prevents drug reactions by acting as a proton sponge, which binds to positively charged ions such as H+, Ca2+, and Mg2+ in the body. This binding reduces their availability and prevents them from reacting with drugs or tissues, thereby reducing inflammation and tissue damage.
