S 3304 is a novel matrix metalloproteinases inhibitor which is specific for MMP-2 and MMP-9.

S 3304 is a pyrimidine compound that inhibits the activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). It has been shown to inhibit the activity of MMP-1, MMP-2, and MMP-3 in vitro. These enzymes are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix and regulation of cell function. S 3304 also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-α by macrophages. This drug has been shown to be safe in clinical trials for cancer therapy.
