Fmoc-pentafluoro-L-phenylalanine (Fmoc-Phe) is a chemical compound that is used in the study of supramolecular, matrix effect, and inorganic chemistry. Suspensions of Fmoc-pentafluorophenylalanine in water undergo rapid self-assembly to entangled fibrillar structures within minutes, giving rise to rigid supramolecular gels. Self-assembly occurs at concentrations as low as 2 mM (0.1 %) (D.M.Ryan et al. Soft Matter 6, 475 (2010)).
