Fipronil desulfinyl, a photodegradation product of the insecticide Fipronil, exhibits similar in vivo toxicity to Fipronil and possesses higher environmental toxicity.

Fipronil-desulfinyl is an amide insecticide that is used to control the target pest. It has been shown to be effective against a wide range of insect pests, including mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, and lice. Fipronil-desulfinyl is not toxic to humans and does not persist in the environment. It can be detected in human serum after a single application of this chemical. The LC-MS/MS method was used for analytical purposes. This technique provides a rapid and accurate analysis of fipronil-desulfinyl in human serum samples. The linear regression analysis showed that salinity levels have no significant effect on the level of fipronil-desulfinyl in human serum samples.
