Tert-Butyl N-[(2-oxo-1,3-oxazolan-5-yl)methyl]-carbamate is a synthetic drug that has been used as a medicine. It is an intermediate in the synthesis of temocillin and ticarcillin sodium. Tert-butyl N-[(2-oxo-1,3-oxazolan-5-yl)methyl]-carbamate reacts with alkali or hydrogenation to give temocillin or ticarcillin sodium. Tert butyl N-[(2 oxo 1 3 oxazolan 5 yl) methyl] carbamate can be deprotected by reaction with methanol to give methoxyl group. This compound is also known by the name tert butyl O-(2 oxo 1 3 oxazolan 5 yl) methyl carbamate.
