  • (1-Pentyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide

    CAS:
(1-Pentyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide is a metal surface treatment agent that has been used in the past as a pheromone. It has been shown to enhance terminal alkynes on platinum and palladium surfaces at high concentrations. The chloride ion, which is present in the solution, can be replaced by hydrogen fluoride or other anions such as bromide, iodide, thiocyanate, nitrate, phosphate or sulfate. If a chloride ion is present, it will form a complex with the phosphonium cation. This complex will be more stable than if an anion such as bromide were present. The hydroxyl group on the phosphonium cation can be acetylated with acetic anhydride to yield (1-acetyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide. The optical properties of this compound depend on the substitution pattern of its phenyl rings and substitu
