  • Bis(ethylenediamine)platinum(II)chloride

    CAS:
Bis(ethylenediamine)platinum(II)chloride is a cationic platinum compound that is soluble in organic solvents. It is used in preparative chemistry and as a reagent for organic synthesis. Bis(ethylenediamine)platinum(II)chloride is insoluble in water, but dissolves in methanol or acetonitrile. It reacts with hydrogen peroxide to form the peroxide which can be oxidized to a chloride. The intramolecular disulfide bonds are cleaved by treatment with alkali, yielding two molecules of bis(ethylenediamine). This product also undergoes oxidative cleavage to form ethylene diamine and platinum metal.
