It has a rapid rate of penetration and it is able to inhibit e. coli, which is a common cause of urinary tract infections. Tetrahydropyranyldiethyleneglycol has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of bacteria in vitro, but this effect may not be seen in vivo due to its low water solubility.
