CAS 21658-95-7: Bis(1-methylethyl) P-(cyanomethyl)phosphonate

Bis(propan-2-yl) (cyanomethyl)phosphonate is a synthetic chemical compound that belongs to the group of stereoisomers. It is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate and has been shown to have a high concentration in tissues, with an average concentration in human breast tissue of 0.17 µg/g and in liver tissue of 0.12 µg/g. Bis(propan-2-yl) (cyanomethyl)phosphonate has been shown to inhibit hmg-coa reductase, the enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonic acid and is responsible for cholesterol synthesis, leading to decreased levels of cholesterol and other sterols. Bis(propan-2-yl) (cyanomethyl)phosphonate also has antioxidant properties due to its ability to prevent lipid peroxidation and free radical formation.
