CAS 2170-09-4: N,2-Dimethylbenzamide

N,2-Dimethylbenzamide is a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound. It has been shown to have an antiproliferative effect on human tumor cell lines and to inhibit the growth of these cells by interrupting their DNA synthesis. N,2-Dimethylbenzamide has also been shown to be cytotoxic in a number of experimental animal models. This drug is a radical cyclization agent that reacts with styrene and lithium diisopropylamide to form the corresponding lithium derivative, which then undergoes condensations with aldehydes or ketones in the presence of metal salts such as copper or silver. These reactions are thermally induced and produce x-ray crystal structures that show an orthorhombic symmetry.
