CAS 2181-42-2: Trimethylsulfonium iodide

Trimethylsulfonium iodide is a potential biomarker for the detection of heavy metals. It is used to identify the transfer reactions between trimethylsulfonium and other molecules. Trimethylsulfonium iodide reacts with the plasma mass spectrometry sample preparation that contains trifluoroacetic acid in order to remove interfering compounds and prepare samples for analysis. The chemical stability of trimethylsulfonium iodide has been tested by heating it at different temperatures to find out how thermal expansion affects its stability.
