(1S,2S,5R)-3-Boc-2-[(tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy)methyl]-4-oxo-3-szabicyclo[3.1.0]hexane is a beta-lactam antibiotic that has been shown to be resistant to beta-lactamase enzymes in a number of multi-drug resistant bacterial strains. This antibiotic also inhibits the production of beta-lactamase enzymes and has been found to have antiinflammatory properties. It binds to the active site of the beta lactamase enzyme and prevents it from breaking down other antibiotics. It is used for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics, such as methicillin, penicillin, erythromycin, ciprofloxacin, and tetracycline.
