Methyl 4-[(1S)-1-aminoethyl]benzoate

(S)-Methyl 4-(1-aminoethyl)benzoate is a prodrug which is converted to the active form, methyl 4-aminobenzoate, in the liver by esterases. It is primarily used as an anti-inflammatory medication. The pharmacokinetics of this drug has been studied in humans and shown that it is excreted mainly via the bile and urine. In animal studies, (S)-methyl 4-(1-aminoethyl)benzoate has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of prostaglandin synthesis and have anti-inflammatory effects in inflammatory pain models. This drug also has antitumour activity against prostate cancer cells in vitro.
