Pentafluorobenzoyl chloride is a reagent that is used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and other organic compounds. It inhibits protease activity in human serum. Pentafluorobenzoyl chloride can be synthesized by reacting hydrochloric acid with an amine, such as piperidine or ethylamine. The reaction yields pentafluorobenzoyl chloride, which has a chloroform-like odor. The analytical method for this compound is based on the determination of its chloride content by titration with silver nitrate solution. This compound can be used to extract organic substances from a sample using solid phase microextraction.
