(R)-(+)-4-Hydroxy-2-pyrrolidinone
CAS:(R)-(+)-4-Hydroxy-2-pyrrolidinone is a synthesized chiral compound that has been shown to have antibacterial properties. It has been shown to be active against Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis, among others. The synthesis of this compound was achieved by the reaction of acetonitrile with γ-aminobutyric acid in a ternary phase. The biological activity of (R)-(+)-4-hydroxy-2-pyrrolidinone was confirmed by FTIR spectra and fluorescence data obtained from carnitine and ornithine. This compound is comprised of two subunits, an amide group and carbonyl group.
