Phenyl acetate-d5 is a compound with a molecular formula of C6H5OCH3. It is a colorless liquid that has a pungent odor. The molecule consists of a phenyl group and an acetate functional group. Phenyl acetate-d5 has been found to exist in two tautomeric forms, which are the enol form and the keto form. In the enol form, there is an intramolecular hydrogen bonding between the oxygen atom and the hydroxyl group on carbon 5 (C-5). In contrast, in the keto form, this bond is broken and there is no intramolecular hydrogen bonding between C-5 and O-2.
