    2-Propanol-d8 is a compound that contains a hydroxy group, a phenyl group and a dehydrogenase. It can be used as an inhibitor in the study of enzymes with alcohol dehydrogenase activity. In particular, it can be used to study the properties of enzymes with phenyl groups. 2-Propanol-d8 is useful for the determination of ethanol concentrations and has been shown to have detectable concentrations when dissolved in ethanol at concentrations of 0.2%. The activation energy for this compound is 27kJ/mol. The chemical formula for 2-propanol-d8 is C7H14O2D8. It shows up as a peak at 3.25 ppm on an nmr spectrum and as a peak at 10.5 ppm on an maldi-tof spectrum. The catalytic mechanism for 2-propanol-d8 is not yet known but it may involve transfer reactions or frequency shift during an enzymatic reaction or polymer film
