Fosfomycin trometamol EP impurity C is a hydrophobic, synthetic, and resistant antibiotic that is used for the diagnosis of urinary tract infections. It has been shown to solvate inorganic aluminum and form an insoluble complex with it. This drug has also been shown to have a synergistic effect with combretastatin A4 phosphate by inhibiting tumor cells. Fosfomycin trometamol EP impurity C inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA, which leads to inhibition of protein synthesis. Fosfomycin trometamol EP impurity C also inhibits the growth of fungi by inhibiting their cell wall biosynthesis.
