This receptor has been implicated in regulating lipid and glucose metabolism as well as immune function. 7β,27-Dihydroxycholesterol binds to the extracellular domain of this receptor and inhibits its interaction with LPS-stimulated macrophages. 7β,27-Dihydroxycholesterol also activates ion channels and inhibits protein interactions.
