5,7-Dichloro-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine is a synthetic compound that has been shown to inhibit the replication of herpes simplex virus in cell culture. The antiviral potency of 5,7-dichloro-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine against herpes simplex virus may be due to its ability to act as an agonist on adenosine receptor subtypes such as A2aR.
