4-(Aminomethyl)-N-methylaniline

4-(N-Methylamino)benzylamine is a chiral, organocatalytic diamine. It is synthesized from the reaction of methylamine with an aldehyde, followed by allylation and oxidation. This compound has been hypothesized to be a supramolecular adduct between two pyridine rings via hydrogen bonding. 4-(N-Methylamino)benzylamine is used in the synthesis of other compounds such as 2-chloro-4-(N-methylamino)benzaldehyde.
