CAS:Agmatine is the decarboxylation product formed during the metabolization of arginine. As a clonidine-displacing substance, it binds to α₂-adrenergic and imidazoline receptors and stimulates the release of catecholamines from adrenal chromaffin cells. Agmatine inhibits cell proliferation and improves renal function in anti-Thy-1glomerulonephritis. It acts as an inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase (Auguet et al., Demady et al.). Gong et al. showed that agmatine exerts a significant anxiolytic effect in rats and mice. CAS:Agmatine sulfate is a natural aminoguanidine that is found in plants, such as beans and potatoes. Agmatine sulfate inhibits the enzyme arginase. It also has been shown to have anti-diabetic effects in diabetic patients, which may be due to its ability to inhibit glucose production in the liver. Agmatine sulfate can be isolated from sephadex g-100 by using norvaline as an indicator. A denaturing solution of urea and sodium hydroxide is used to extract agmatine sulfate from the gel, which can then be purified by chromatography on a silica column with methanol as the solvent. Agmatine sulfate also has been shown to improve symptoms of diabetic neuropathy through its ability to inhibit phosphodiesterase activity. Industrial uses of agmatine sulfate include being used as an intermediate for the production of polyurethane foams or for use in urine samples for screening forFormula:C5H14N4•H2SO4Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:228.27 g/molAgmatine sulfate, 90.0%+
CAS:Agmatine sulfate is a fine chemical that is used as a versatile building block in the synthesis of a wide range of compounds. It has been shown to be an effective reagent for the synthesis of peptides and polymers, such as polyamides. Agmatine has also been used as a high-quality intermediate in the synthesis of other useful compounds, such as L-arginine and nitric oxide. CAS:Applications General Uses: Neuroprotective, CNS studies, Autism and depression researchDescription:Agmatine Sulfate is a polyamine derived from L-arginine (A769500) decarboxylation and is a known putative endogenous neurotransmitter at imidazoline receptors. Agmatine sulfate displaces clonidine at α2-adrenergic and at imidazoline receptors and was recently shown to exert some neuroprotective effects. It blocks NMDA-receptor associated cation channels. Acts as a competitive inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase (NOS). It functions as neurotransmitter since it is stored in synaptic vesicles and is related from axon terminals by depolarization(1). Protects autistic behavior in rats (2) and reverses depressive like behavior in mice. CAS:Agmatine is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of the polyamines putrescine and spermine. Agmatine binds with high affinity to α2-adrenergic receptors and imidazoline binding sites and produces blockade of the NMDA-receptor associated cation channels. Agmatine is a competitive inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase activity owing to mimicry of the natural NOS substrate arginine.
