CAS:Isoamyl gallate is a benzene-based compound that has antibiotic activity. It is currently under investigation for potential use as an antibiotic. Isoamyl gallate is soluble in water and alcohol, but insoluble in ether, chloroform, and benzene. It has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and some Gram-negative bacteria. Isoamyl gallate also inhibits the growth of mycobacteria by inhibiting the synthesis of cell wall components such as peptidoglycan and lipopolysaccharide. Isoamyl gallate is used to treat muscle tissue damage from overexertion or injury, as well as muscle inflammation caused by infection with bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics. The antibiotic activity may be due to its ability to inhibit the transport of glucose across the bacterial cell membrane and thus prevent glycolysis within the cell. Isoamyl gallate has also been shown to inhibit hydrolyFormula:C12H16O5Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:240.25 g/molBenzoic acid, 3,4,5-trihydroxy-, 3-methylbutyl ester
