    CAS:
    3-(2-Chloroethyl)-1,3-oxazolidin-2-one is a cytostatic drug with enzyme specificity. It is a synthetic derivative of the natural product pyrazinamide, which inhibits the activity of dihydrofolate reductase in the synthesis of purine nucleotides. 3-(2-Chloroethyl)-1,3-oxazolidin-2-one has been shown to be active against rat bladder cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. This drug also has detoxified properties that allow it to be used as an anticancer agent in humans. 3-(2-Chloroethyl)-1,3-oxazolidin-2-one may cause allergic reactions when given parenterally but not when given orally.
