  • 2-Phenylpropionic acid ethyl ester

    CAS:
    2-Phenylpropionic acid ethyl ester is an insecticide that belongs to the group of esters. This compound has been found to be effective against a variety of pests, including p. pastoris, which is a yeast used in the production of fermented foods such as bread and cheese. The mechanism of action of 2-phenylpropionic acid ethyl ester is not well understood, but it has been shown to immobilize the target pest and inhibit its ability to react with other compounds. Control agents such as benzalkonium chloride or microcapsules can then be used for complete elimination and prevention. 2-Phenylpropionic acid ethyl ester also inhibits the growth of fungi by interfering with their cell membranes and inhibiting their respiration. It has also been shown to have antifungal properties against Malic Acid and Ethyl Bromoacetate, which are both organic acids found in plants.
