CAS:4-Chloroindole is an indole compound that is a derivative of salicylic acid. It is used in the production of ethylene and casein, as well as being a major metabolite of anthranilic acid. 4-Chloroindole is also found in environmental pollutants and has been shown to be active against plant pathogens such as Pseudomonas syringae. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of Bacillus cereus by binding to its ribosomal RNA and inhibiting protein synthesis.
