Asenapine is a drug that belongs to the class of antipsychotics. It is used for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The mechanism of action of asenapine is not well understood, but it may be related to its antagonism of dopamine D2 receptors. Asenapine has been shown to have effects on 4-chlorophenol degradation, 2-chlorophenylacetic acid production, and bacterial DNA gyrase activity.
