CAS:Artemisone is a sesquiterpene lactone that has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against cancer cells, such as K562 cells. It is also an inhibitor of the P-glycoprotein (P-gp) transporter, which may make it useful for treating infectious diseases and drug interactions. Artemisone has also been shown to inhibit the activity of recombinant cytochrome P450 enzymes in vitro. This inhibition could be used to study the biological properties of this enzyme system. Artemisone also inhibits the growth of bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae.
