It is a cross-linking agent that can be used to increase the strength of cationic polymers by forming ester bonds with the polymer backbone. Bis-hydroxymethyl cyclodecane can be used to produce films with good thermal expansion properties, such as calcium hydrogencarbonate and sodium carbonate. This compound also has a wide range of applications as a substrate film in reactions and as a transport medium in chromatography columns.
