CAS:2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid sodium (2,4-D) is a herbicide that is used to control weeds in crop fields and on lawns. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of human cancer cells in vitro and in animals. 2,4-D also inhibits the production of chemical substances, such as hydrochloric acid, which are needed for cell growth. The inhibitory effects of 2,4-D have been shown to be concentration dependent. A model system using kidney bean has shown that 2,4-D inhibits the growth of this plant by inhibiting water vapor transport through pores on the leaves and stomata on the underside of leaves. This inhibition is due to a decrease in the activity of chloride ion channels that regulate water vapor transport.Formula:C8H5Cl2NaO3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:243.19 g/mol
