S-trityl-L-cysteine has shown inhibition of prostate cancer cells and human osteosarcoma cells with DNA binding activity. S-trityl-L-cysteine also has the potential to induce caspase independent cell death, which may be due to its effect on pluripotent cells. Furthermore, it has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibit binding to ATPase and DNA gyrase enzymes.
