CAS:Isophorone diamine is an organic compound with the formula (CH)C(NH)NH. It can be obtained by reacting ethylene diamine with methanol as solvent, or by hydrogenation of aniline. The cis/trans isomerism arises from the configuration of the methyl groups attached to the amine nitrogen atoms. Isophorone diamine is a colorless liquid that is soluble in water and polar organic solvents. This compound has been used in analytical chemistry as a reagent for determining the presence of hydroxyl group in chemical reactions. Isophorone diamine reacts with acids to form salts, such as ammonium bisulfate and ammonium sulfate.
