  • Pirenzepine

    CAS:
    Pirenzepine is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that acts to inhibit the production of prostaglandins. Pirenzepine has been shown to be effective in the treatment of diabetic neuropathy, which is caused by the lack of acetylcholine in peripheral nerves. It also inhibits the conversion of fatty acids into prostaglandins, and this effect may contribute to its therapeutic action. Pirenzepine binds to acetylcholine receptors on cells in various organs, including the brain, heart, and blood vessels. This binding results in decreased levels of acetylcholine and decreased activity of these cells. Pirenzepine can also cause irreversible inhibition of both nicotinic and muscarinic cholinergic receptors by competing with acetylcholine for receptor binding sites on cell membranes. The glomerular filtration rate is increased due to the increased permeability of renal tubules following pirenzepine administration
