It blocks the production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes by inhibiting the activity of cyclooxygenases and lipoxygenases. 4-Ethynyl-1,1'-biphenyl also inhibits the activity of lipases in the intestine, which lowers fat absorption in the body. This drug is insoluble in water and has a low solubility in bile.
