SB-3CT is a potent and specific gelatinase inhibitor for MMP-2(Ki=13.9 nM) and MMP-9(Ki=600 nM).

SB 3CT is a novel molecule that has shown efficacy in vitro against oxidative injury and cell death. It is a potential biomarker for experimental models of subarachnoid hemorrhage. SB 3CT inhibits the activity of MMP-9 and MMP-2, which are enzymes that have been shown to play an important role in the pathogenesis of subarachnoid hemorrhage. SB 3CT has also been shown to be effective in pre-clinical models for the treatment of subarachnoid hemorrhage, as well as other conditions such as cerebral ischemia and traumatic brain injury.
