4-Nitrobenzenesulfonohydrazide is an organic compound that is used as an antimicrobial agent. It has been shown to be effective against chalcones and related compounds. 4-Nitrobenzenesulfonohydrazide has been found to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and to reduce their ability to form metastases in mice, which may be due to its ability to react with the pyrazole ring of the cancer cell's DNA and form adducts with other cellular molecules. This drug also targets a variety of bacterial species and has been shown in vitro to have activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
