N-Benzylpyrrolidine inhibits serotonin reuptake and exhibits antidepressant properties. It also increases the release of dopamine from nerve cells and can be used as a dopamine receptor agonist. This drug is manufactured by reacting benzaldehyde with pyrrolidinone, followed by hydrolysis with hydrochloric acid or trifluoroacetic acid.
