CAS:Polidocanol is a non-ionic surfactant that is used in the preparation of biological samples for microscopy. It can be used to separate cells from a homogenized tissue sample, and to extract lipids from cell membranes. Polidocanol has been shown to have anti-cancer activity against a number of different types of cancer including colon, breast, lung, prostate, and leukemia. This compound was found to inhibit tumor growth by interfering with the synthesis of fatty acids and proteins. Polidocanol was found to be effective in preventing the formation of multicellular clusters of Candida glabrata cells on agar plates. This may be due to its ability to disrupt the surface tension between cells and water molecules, which prevents their attachment to each other.
