It has been shown to have permeation enhancing activity in Langmuir monolayers and in hydrogels. S-[1-(Dimethylamino)ethyl]ferrocene is also soluble in organic solvents and has been shown to form copolymers with n-isopropylacrylamide at temperatures of -20°C and above. This compound is an active group for the formation of covalent bonds that can be used for the preparation of optically pure materials.
