1-Decylimidazole is a thione antibiotic with antibacterial activity. It is used as an antimicrobial agent in cellulose acetate, and has been shown to enhance the rate of ethionamide metabolism by rat liver microsomes. 1-Decylimidazole also binds to the dinucleotide phosphate (NAD) and chloride ion, which may be a part of its antibacterial activity.
