1-Decylimidazole
CAS:1-Decylimidazole is a thione antibiotic with antibacterial activity. It is used as an antimicrobial agent in cellulose acetate, and has been shown to enhance the rate of ethionamide metabolism by rat liver microsomes. 1-Decylimidazole also binds to the dinucleotide phosphate (NAD) and chloride ion, which may be a part of its antibacterial activity. The mechanism of this drug’s antibacterial activity is unclear, but it has been suggested that it may inhibit the synthesis of proteins essential for cell division or alter the permeability of bacterial cells. This drug has found use as an effective antibacterial agent against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae.Formula:C13H24N2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:208.34 g/mol
