CAS:2-(Chloromethyl)-1,3-thiazole is an aromatic hydrocarbon that is used as a pesticide. It is also a metabolic intermediate in the metabolism of chlorinating agents and has been shown to be carcinogenic. This compound degrades by reacting with hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sodium hydroxide solution, or hydrogen chloride to form 2-chloro-1,3-thiazole or 2-chloromethyltetrahydrothiophene.
