It has been shown to have affinity for the transporter and its effects on the nervous system include depression and anxiety. 4-Bromo-±-cyanocinnamic acid is also a potent inhibitor of human serotonin transporter, which regulates serotonin levels in the body. The drug also has a high affinity for human dopamine transporter, but is not active against other nonhuman transporters.
