CAS:Chlorhexidine is a disinfectant and antiseptic that is used for cleaning skin before surgery, during childbirth, or other invasive procedures. It is also used to treat infections of the mouth, throat, urinary tract, and lungs. Chlorhexidine binds to the hydroxyl group on the surface of bacterial cells and forms hydrogen bonds with the phosphate groups in DNA. This prevents bacterial reproduction by inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. Chlorhexidine has been shown to be effective against gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Listeria monocytogenes. It is not active against gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Chlorhexidine has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.BR>BR> Chlorhexidine can be synthesized from salFormula:C13H24OPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Clear LiquidMolecular weight:196.33 g/mol6-Isopropyldecahydronaphthalen-2-ol
