1-Eicosene is a benzoate with the molecular formula CH3CO2C6H5. It is an ester that contains one hydroxyl group, which can be found in many antimicrobial agents. 1-Eicosene has been shown to have moderate toxicity against bacterial strains and is used as a model system for ester linkages. The synthesis of 1-eicosene begins with acetate extract and particle, which are then combined with a solid catalyst to produce the final product. The chemical structure of 1-eicosene consists of two carbon atoms, six hydrogen atoms, and one oxygen atom linked together by covalent bonds. The thermal expansion coefficient for 1-eicosene is -0.14 x 10−4/°C at 20 °C.
