  • 4-Nitro-4'-t-butyl diphenylether

    CAS:
4-Nitro-4'-t-butyl diphenylether is a coupling agent that is used to synthesize ethers and phenols. It is an efficient, base catalyst for the reaction with aryl halides and copper oxide. 4-Nitro-4'-t-butyl diphenylether is an efficient catalyst for the production of ethers from alkyl halides. It can also be used to catalyze the conversion of phenols into ethers, which are often more stable than their corresponding phenols. The reaction proceeds through the formation of a nitroso intermediate followed by nucleophilic attack on the aromatic ring by the halide or alcohol. This reaction is highly selective and has high yields. The catalyst is soluble in organic solvents such as dichloromethane, chloroform, and benzene, but insoluble in water.
