    CAS:
    1,1,1-Trifluoro-2-iodoethane is an amide with the chemical formula CF3CH2N. It is a precursor to trifluoroacetic acid and can be used as an analytical reagent for hydrogen fluoride. 1,1,1-Trifluoro-2-iodoethane has been shown to inhibit the activity of the ryanodine receptor in skeletal muscle. This compound also inhibits glutamate uptake by rat hippocampal neurons and may be involved in the regulation of glutamate release from glial cells. 1,1,1-Trifluoro-2-iodoethane has been found to have therapeutic effects on autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis.
