4-Bromo-2-methylbutan-2-ol is a natural product that has potent activity against monocytic cells. It inhibits cellular growth and induces apoptosis by binding to the cell membrane and inhibiting the production of ATP. 4-Bromo-2-methylbutan-2-ol also blocks the synthesis of phosphatidylinositide 3 (PI3), which is important for cell proliferation, and causes a decrease in intracellular vitamin D3 levels. This compound has been shown to have medicinal properties, such as inhibiting the growth of cancerous cells and stimulating bone formation. It is also used in skin care products as an antioxidant.
