    3-Bromopropyltriphenylphosphonium Bromide is a gold nanoparticle-based drug that has been shown to be effective in treating stem-like cells. 3BPTP binds to hydroxyl ions and protonates, which causes the phenyl groups to release ligands. The resulting free ligands are then able to bind with stem-like cells, leading to cell death. 3BPTP has been shown to have an effect on radiation-induced cancerous cells and can be used as a therapeutic agent for cancer treatment. Irradiation of 3BPTP with gold nanoparticles leads to the production of hydroxyl ions and protonated ligands, which react with stem-like cells by binding to their surface.
