It has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth and induce apoptosis in human leukemia cells. 1H-Indole-3-carboxylic acid, 5-hydroxy inhibits the production of nitric oxide by inhibiting the enzyme nitrite reductase, which is required for the formation of nitric oxide.
