PIK-75 is a novel small molecule that binds to the MCL-1 protein and inhibits its ability to inhibit apoptosis. This inhibitor has been shown to have pro-apoptotic effects on tumor cells in vitro, as well as anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties in vivo. In addition, PIK-75 has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in cancer cells. PIK-75 was also found to be effective against infectious diseases caused by viruses and bacteria, such as influenza A virus and Streptococcus pneumoniae. This agent has been shown to inhibit the activation of the apoptosis pathway after balloon injury in mice.

PIK-75, a DNA-PK and PI3K inhibitor, suppresses DNA-PK(IC50=2 nM), p110α(IC50=5.8 nM) and p110γ(IC50=76 nM).
